Drive Smart Drive Safe (ClubD2S) with support of The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, NGO Arrive safe, Confederation of Indian Industry – Young Indians, AIAWA ACMA, SIAM, FICCI, FADA, Bharat Scouts & Guide, Yi Vadodara YUVA college and partnered by Hella, WABCO & Brakes India organized a Mega Walkathon on Saturday, 01 September 2018 in Vadodara.

CKSVIM batch 10 students alongwith Dr. Ankit Shah participated in the event as Yi Yuva Member.

The walkathon was inaugurated by:

Mr. Ramashankar Pandey, President, Central Working Committee of the NGO, Drive Smart, Drive Safe & Managing Director of HELLA India Lighting Ltd. &

Mr Subramanian “Subu” Narayanan, member of club D2S (Drive to Safety), employee, Hella who were part of the walk.

“Through awareness rallies, safety campaigns, street plays, special events and traditional and social media campaigns, we work towards raising awareness on road safety and connecting with citizens towards best practices in road travel”, said Dr Jigisha Seth, Mayor, Vadodara.

“I feel proud and privilege to announce that The Unique National Campaign of “Public Walk Donation for safer Roads has become a huge success. It has already crossed two Crore Steps in just  30 days and still counting, With such massive National support for the campaign, its organisers NGO Drive Smart Drive Safe (ClubD2S) with support of Young Indians via all national Young Indians chapters have now set a  New Goal of 125 Crore Steps public walk donations for Safer Roads with an extension campaign, #MeraKadamMeriSuraksha” said Mr Shwetanshu Patel, Chair, Yi Vadodara.

"When we make the Roads Safer, when more people can walk, use of private vehicles will come down for short distances and Roads will become even more safer. I am on this mission to raise public awareness about difficulty of pedestrians on Indian Roads, which can lead to urgent action for creating robust system approach to Road Safety. I appeal to all of you to join me to support this cause," said Subramanian “Subu” Narayanan.

With one death every 4 minutes and an accident every minute, the situation is very critical and cannot be left unattended for long, and hence our team member “Subu” is taking the challenge to appeal all Indians to join this national movement and donate their walk on to put this on highest priority,” said Mr. Ramashankar Pandey.
