CKSVIM successfully organized a  National Conference on “Dynamics of Exchange Rate Valuation and Management” on 28th April 2018.

SMJV's C K Shah Vijapurwala institute of Management, Vadodara has organized a National Conference on “Dynamics of Exchange Rate Valuation and Management” on 28th April 2018 under its Centre for Financial Services. The major objective of the conference was to sensitize the government, policy makers, industry and concern academicians about the changes in exchange rate of Indian currency against global currencies.

The conference was fully sponsored by Shri Surendra Kapur, Indian for his sheer affection toward academics. Federation of Gujarat Industries and CII – Young Indian were the Knowledge partners of the conference.

The inaugural session of the conference was graced by renowned dignitaries from academic fraternity and industry. Dr. Rajesh Khajuria, Director, CKSVIM welcomed the guests and elaborated the objective behind organzing the conference on such a very specific theme. The further remembered the golder era where Indian rupee was valued at par with US Dollar around the time of independence and how it has depreciated to the current level. Dr. Khajuria whole heartedly expressed the gratitude to Shri Surendra Kapur for generously sponsoring the conference on the topic of national importance.

Shri Narparbhai Sanghavi, Member, Local committee, SMJV briefly narrated the journey of 102 years old Shri Mahavir Jain Vidhyalaya.

In his Inaugural address, Dr. S O Junare, Dean, Gujarat Forensic Science University, Gandhinagar, congratulated CKSVIM for selecting such an important topic for the discussion. He further explain the changing macroeconomic scenario and its relationship with the currency exchange rate.

Shri Surendra Kapur, patron and sponsor of the conference, shared his views on the theme and showered his blessings to all the participants and students.

Mr. Nitesh Patel, Secretary General, Federation of Gujarat Industries, expressed his happiness for being the knowledge partner for the conference and requested for arranging such conference on important topics on a continuous bases with the strong partnership with industry and commerce. Mr. Manan Shah from CII-Yi, also congratulated the institution for the  conference.

Prof. Dr. Surendra Sundararajan, Professor, Faculty of Management Studies, M S University, in his key-note address, very clearly and explicitly explained the world trade and commerce and how the exchange rate fluctuation greatly affect the domestic economic variable like fiscal and monetary policy, inflation, trade balances, government spending, etc.

The conference has received total 16 papers from 22 participants. The papers were divided into the categories of faculty and students. The papers were presented and evaluated by the following panel of experts: Dr. Sundararajan, Dr. Junare, Dr. Jayrajsinh Jadeja, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, MSU,; Prof. K.R. Badola, Faculty of Commerce, MSU; and Mr. Amar Doshi, Practicing Chartered Accountant.

From each category, three best papers were selected by the panel and rewarded with cash prizes. The best three papers in faculty category received the cash prize of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,500 and Rs. 5,000. The best three papers in student category were given the cash prize of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2000.

The three best papers in the faculty category are:

  2. Dr. Bindiya Soni, Dr. Jigna trivedi and Ms. Mauli Bodiwala
  3. Dr. Bhavik Panchasara and Dr. Heena Bharadia

The three best papers in the students category are:

  1. Mr. Karan Zaveri and Ms.Hardika Lalwani
  2. Ms. Monika Lakhyani
  3. Mr. Kartik Desai


In the end, Prof. Dr. S Sundararajan shared his expert comments and made the concluding remarks on various papers presented during the conference.
