On 5th November 2016, the Director, Faculties, Staff and MBA students of CKSVIM, were invited to listen to  ANUPAM KHER, at VCCI Global Trade Show 2016.

Anupam Kher is considered one of the greatest actors of contemporary Indian cinema. He acted in nearly 500 films and 100 plays in last 32 years. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his contribution in the field of cinema and arts.

A warm and hearty welcome was given to Anupam Kher by all participants.

Mr. Nilesh Shukla, Chairman – VCCI 2016 Global Trade Show honored Mr. Kher with a bouquet and wholeheartedly welcomed him on behalf of VCCI family and Vadodara City.

Anupam kher set the stage on fire by sharing his personal experience which gave him success in his life and infuse our minds with pearls of wisdom from his adventurous life.

His motivational speech with a punch line, "Kuchh Bhi Ho Sakta Hai", gave a boost to the listeners' morale. He discussed about failure, challenges, fear, hard work, persistence, and  journey of life as a whole.

He shared his childhood days, how he was raised near Simla in North India, in a family that was not particularly famous for good grades (marks!) in class. He joked that he averaged 37% in his classes, which made him a family hero. His family had simple needs and laughed a lot. He said, “when you have so little, anything you have brings happiness.” A beautiful reminder for all of us who are always chasing the “next” thing! He added whatever he is today he owe to his father and grandfather.

He talked about his arrival in Mumbai to be an actor, how he lived in a small shelter in a chawl (a large tenement house) with a dhobi (clothes-washer) as his neighbor and had to sleep 27 days at Bandra train station.

Sharing one of his experience, while working on "HUM AAPKE HAI KAUN" movie he told that "I was affected by facial paralysis and my doctor advised me not to work for next two months, but my inner voice said, what if i get used to being afraid of failure? I should not fear the failure, rather i should face the challenge and conquer over it.That made me work hard and more success came to me."

He said, I'm a great optimist and I have lived a life which has had its own ups and downs and I have never indulged in self-pity or bitterness. So basically the idea is to make people understand that there is no point dwelling upon your shortcomings, failures or setbacks. One should turn them into something positive because the only way to live is to live optimistically and the only way to live is to decide to be happy.

Some of his phrases that touched everyone's heart, are worth noticing:

a) Failure is an EVENT, it is not a PERSON.
b) Throw out FEAR from your inside..
c) Failure again and again encounters your life, so CELEBRATE YOUR FAILURE.
d) We do not LIVE our life. We only EXIST.
e) When you want to be EQUAL with anybody, do not EXPECT anything from that person.
f) Life CHANGES when you CHALLENGE your life.
g) JOURNEY is more important than destination.

He concluded with a beautiful quote in Hindi, "Bheega hua aadmi kabhi baarish se nahi darta". He made everyone re-think over their perception of success and life.

Mr. Hemant Vadalia, Sr. Vice President, on behalf of VCCI conveyed heartfelt thanks to Anupam Kher for sharing and motivating youth of Vadodara City.

Anupam Kher was honored with his portrait sketched by a school student.

Thank you, Anupam Kher for your inspiration and for sharing your beautiful life-story with us.
