MESSAGE CUM PROPOSED ACTIVITIES OF RESEARCH CENTRE
The ‘Research Centre’ at SMJV’s C K Shah Vijapurwala Institute of Management, Vadodara set up in the month of January 2011 with a view to promote ‘Research Activities’ in the Institute is committed to its strong belief that knowledge creation i.e. ‘Research’ and knowledge dissemination, i.e., ‘Teaching’ are two sides of a coin. In order to be able to teach well, one should consistently and continuously be involved in research activities. There are a number of ways in which a Teacher may work towards research. Some of these are:
1) Reading Research articles from Research Journals of his/her interest to acquire knowledge of Researches being currently conducted by the researchers in a particular field of study (Acquisition of knowledge about the current research activities).
2) Exploring the feasibility of conducting research studies of similar type but for a different population and or geographical region / different demography.
3) Identifying research problems which have not been addressed by the ‘Researchers’ currently and to conduct research to bridge the ‘gap’ between what is needed and what has been done.
4) Exploring to view the possibility of ‘Paradigm Shift’ in the traditional ways of identification and solution of problems and the impact of the paradigm shift on the perception of the phenomena pertaining to problem definition and research process.
A teacher, therefore, needs to ‘read well’ regularly and sincerely in order to acquire knowledge of the subject of his interest. Then only, one can think of becoming a good teacher. Similarly, one needs to be able to process the acquired knowledge with a view to generate new knowledge using some Research Methods, in order to become a good researcher.
The ‘Research Centre’ looks forward to the opportunity of providing help and assistance to its own Teachers at CKSVIM, Vadodara in particular and Teachers of other Business Schools under GTU in general in their research endeavours in the coming days, months and years to come.
